Elsie Hui Arias

Partner & Certified Specialist

Elsie Hui Arias is a partner at SGG Immigration LLP.  She has been certified as a specialist in immigration and nationality law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization since 2007, a designation that is conferred upon only a very small percentage of immigration practitioners that meet certain rigorous standards in California.

Ms. Arias practices in all areas of U.S. immigration, with particular expertise in EB-5 immigration.  She advises regional centers and developers in preparing EB-5 investment offerings, applying for initial and amended regional center designations (including approval of I-526 exemplars), maintaining compliance, and developing strategies in tackling complex issues that emerge during the I-526 or I-829 process.  She has also successfully represented hundreds of individual investors from Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, and Africa with their I-526 and I-829 petitions.

Ms. Arias also focuses her practice in representing U.S. employers with petitioning foreign nationals for nonimmigrant status and lawful permanent residence.  Employer-clients include multinational corporations, health care providers, financial services companies, and universities.  She also assists physicians with obtaining J-1 waivers and national interest waivers.

Additionally, Ms. Arias has extensive experience with family-based immigration, waivers of inadmissibility, citizenship and naturalization, and motions/appeals before the Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.  She has provided pro bono representation to clients referred by nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles, including Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) and Catholic Charities.

During law school, Ms. Arias externed with the Honorable Harry Pregerson of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and worked part-time as a Teaching Assistant for the Asian American Studies Department at UC Davis.
