On Friday September 23, 2016, Attorneys Taiyyeba Skomra, Raj Iyer, and Sameera Sani will attend the South Asian Bar Association’s annual Leadership Retreat Welcome Reception. Stone Grzegorek & Gonzalez LLP is committed to supporting local bar associations and fostering their growth. SABA is a national bar association providing a link between South Asian lawyers and the South Asian community across North America. SABA is the fastest growing organization of South Asian lawyers in the world and includes 26 local chapters across the United States and Canada.
The Leadership Retreat Welcome Reception will start off with a Networking Mixer with local attorneys as well as SABA’s board members and officers from the 26 SABA chapters across the U.S. and Canada. The Reception will continue with welcome remarks by the Honorable Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, Rupa Goswami. Judge Goswami was appointed to this position by Governor Jerry Brown on July 12, 2013, which made her the first South Asian American woman to be appointed to a judgeship in California. Judge Goswami is also the past SABA Southern California President and national honoree of SABA North America. Thereafter, the Mentor of the Year, Firdaus Dordi, will speak. Like Mr. Dordi, as a SABA member, Sameera Sani also serves as a mentor every year to a local first year law students to help them be better prepared for the rigors of law school and a career as an attorney.
